IF YOU thought Movember was only for men – think again.

Not wanting to be outdone by their male colleagues who are growing facial hair for Movember, the female members of Southampton General Hospital’s urology team have got in on the action with their very own knitted moustaches.

Tracey Clements, a cancer meeting co-ordinator, got her mother to knit the woollen ’taches for the Mo Sistas as the team hope to raise more than the £2,500 they raised last year.

Movember is a month-long event that urges men to replace their normally smooth upper lips with bristling fuzz to raise money and awareness for Prostate Cancer UK.

Money from Movember is already benefitting patients in Southampton, with the launch of a new project that promises to transform the aftercare of patients treated by the prostate cancer team.

“Prostate cancer UK are providing a nursing team to help improve the system of looking after men who are living with prostate cancer or recovering from prostate cancer treatment.”
